William, 42, and Kate, 43, have three young children; Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis. It’s not surprising that away from the public eye, they try to keep as normal a family life as possible.

While fans do sometimes get a look at their family life, a lot of it remains private. But over the last few months, the pair have shared more and more adorable family moments. However, it seems Prince William struggles with one area of parenting nowadays.

William and Kate visit soft play in Scotland

This week, the Prince and Princess of Wales enjoyed a two-day visit to the Isle of Mull in Scotland. It also coincided with their 14th wedding anniversary.

While visiting the Aros Hall community centre, William and Kate spent some time at a soft play area. It’s believed it was the Scottish island’s only soft play area.

During the trip, Kate spoke to other mothers about the facility, and how it connects parents as well as being somewhere fun for the kids to go to.

Kate bonded with mums over this, as she shared a personal message with them. She informed them she wished there was a place like that when she had given birth to her eldest George, now 11. The princess explained she had to visit a Waitrose café to see other people.

But over the years, Kate and William have taken their own kids to soft play areas quite often. It seems they enjoy it so much that even William used to be able to participate.

Kate said: “We hang out a lot at soft play. Mine absolutely love it.”

Prince William reveals normal activity he can no longer do with children

The prince then jumped into the conversation, and jokingly explained: “You still think you can do it yourself, but..” as he gestured to his knee, implying he used to be much more active in the play rooms.

Prince William also was taken aback at the new set-up, noticing one huge difference to those he had been to before.

He said: “It’s not usually this clean. It’s beautiful. And it’s really cosy and fun.”

Aros Hall is one of the two community centres which will benefit from the grant from Kate and William’s Royal Foundation. When Kate heard just how the centre helps parents and kids make friends, she gushed: “You need to bring the village together.”

Kate and William ‘preparing’ their kids for their future roles

While the kids still get to enjoy some soft play time together, it seems two of them are already being prepped for their future roles.

Royal expert Katie Nicholl suggested that Charlotte and George are being raised “with an awareness” to their future positions.

She wrote in her 2022 book, The New Royals: Queen Elizabeth’s Legacy and the Future of the Crown, about how it’s down to them to reshape the public opinion of the royal family.

She penned: “George, Charlotte and Louis are being raised by their parents with an awareness of their positions and the roles they will one day carry out in support of the monarchy.”

Katie believes that George “knows” he will one day be just like Prince William – a future king – while Charlotte will “juggle the role of being the spare with a career”.
