Gut-Friendly Recipes for Improved Digestion by Isla Greene
Isla Greene battled dyspnea and erratic digestion for years. āI considered it as simply a natural aging process,ā she explains. She modified her meals, though, after realizing how diet influences intestinal health, and things changed.
ā Once I concentrated on gut-friendly ingredients, I felt lighter, less bloated, and more energized,ā Isla says. She now develops easy-to-make at-home basic dishes that support a good digestive tract.
Three of her go-to gut-loving dishes are here:
1. Morning Kefir SmoothieĀ Combine unsweetened kefir with a handful of spinach, banana, blueberries, chia seeds. āKefir is loaded with probiotics, which are absolutely vital for gut balance,ā Isla says.
2. Fermented Veggie BowlĀ Add quinoa, roasted sweet potatoes, sautĆ©ed greens, a teaspoon of kimchi or sauerkraut. āFermented vegetables boost the good bacteria in your gut,ā she notes.
3. Ginger-Turmeric SoupĀ a warm soup based on broth including lentils, carrots, ginger, turmeric, garlic. Isla points out, āAnti-inflammatory and easy to digest.ā āYour stomach seems to be undergoing a spa treatment.ā
Isla also stays away from highly processed meals and artificial sweets. āThey upset the microbiome,ā she says. Rather, she feeds beneficial gut flora prebiotic foods such onions, garlic, oats, and asparagus.
Consensus among experts is with her strategy. āA healthy gut improves digestion, boosts immunity, and even supports mental health,ā claims gastrointestinal health specialist Dr. Paula Lee.
āTake care of your gut, and it will take care of you,ā Isla says in her straightforward manner.
