Keeley Yates’s Vegan Diet for Hormone Balance
For years, Keeley Yates thought irregular cycles and constant fatigue were just part of being a busy woman. But after turning thirty and noticing increased mood swings and stubborn weight gain, she knew something deeper was going on. “I felt disconnected from my body,” she says. “Like I wasn’t in control anymore.”
That’s when she started researching hormonal health—and stumbled across the impact of diet. “I realized I was missing out on so many essential nutrients,” she explains. “Even though I was vegan, I wasn’t balanced.”
She began approaching veganism not just as a lifestyle, but as a tool for supporting her internal rhythms. That meant incorporating more plant-based fats, like avocados, flaxseeds, and walnuts. It meant paying attention to protein diversity and loading up on leafy greens for vital minerals like magnesium and calcium.
But more than that, Keeley started eating with her cycle. “I noticed I craved different things during different phases,” she says. “And instead of fighting it, I listened.”
In just three months, her energy levels steadied. Her skin cleared up. Her period, once wildly unpredictable, settled into a pattern. “My body was talking to me the whole time,” she reflects. “I just wasn’t listening.”
Today, her vegan meals are filled with color, variety, and intention. “I don’t see food as restriction anymore,” Keeley says. “I see it as harmony.”
