Jolie’s lawyer, James Simon, shared the following statement: “More than eight years ago, Angelina filed for divorce from Mr. Pitt. She and the children left all of the properties they had shared with Mr. Pitt, and since that time she has focused on finding peace and healing for their family,”

“This is just one part of a long ongoing process that started eight years ago. Frankly, Angelina is exhausted, but she is relieved this one part is over.“

They first met on the set of the 2005 movie “Mr & Mrs Smith”. Pitt was married at the time, to Jennifer Aniston who he decided to divorce for Jolie – who at that point was a single mother to her son, Maddox whom she adopted in 2002 from Cambodia.

They announced their engagement in April 2012 and got married in August 2014.

In 2016, not long after their second wedding anniversary, Jolie filed for divorce.

In 2022, the infamous plane incident was revealed, which happened days before the divorce was filed.

It was alleged that Jolie “chocked one of the children and struck another in the face” and “grabbed Jolie by the head and shook her”. He also allegedly “poured beer and red wine” on his family.

Both the FBI and DCFS cleared Pitt who denied any physical altercation.

A judge ruled that the pair were legally single in April 2019 but spent the next few years dividing up custody and their assets.
