As a result, fictional vampires in television shows, movies, video games, and animated properties all have unique qualities to bring to the coffin. Whether or not Stoker would approve is for you to decide. Which fictional vampires suck in ways that would make Bram Stoker proud?

Dracula
Bram Stoker’s Dracula890 votes
Agree or Disagree? As the titular character in the movie adaption of Bram Stoker’s Dracula, Count Dracula emerges after Vlad Dracula loses his wife, renounces God, and drinks blood from his chapel’s cross. Dracula is seductive, can hypnotize humans, and takes on different forms to match his needs.
Dracula’s presence in England highlights the “otherness” of Dracula found in Stoker’s work while the erotic nature of his machinations similarly corresponds to the Victorian period during which Stoker wrote.

2Interview with the Vampire: The Vampire Chronicles, Queen of the Damned, Lestat
844 votes
Lestat de Lioncourt is spoiled, pretty, and generally a sociopath, but that’s why he’s a good vampire. His sexual allure attracts men and women alike, and his powers of manipulation allow him to suck the blood of anyone he chooses.
In contrast to his ageless paramour Louis de Ponte du Lac, who is prone to moments of kindness, Lestat never really succumbs to that kind of weakness.

3The Adventures of Elmo in Grouchland, Elmo Saves Christmas, Don’t Eat the Pictures

It’s not clear what Count von Count eats, but he’s incredibly dedicated to counting in his free time. Luckily, counting can be done with just a minor amount of light, making it an all-the-time activity.
The accent, outfit, and agelessness all correspond to traditional vampires, but it’s also difficult to assess whether he sleeps in a coffin or has any other supernatural abilities.

There’s only one Angel, but he’s been in multiple shows. As the vampire with a soul (a curse and a blessing), Angel falls in love with Buffy Summers but ultimately makes his way to Los Angeles to continue protecting people from demons.
Angel does is best to avoid feeding on humans but he is a vampire and can’t always resist. He’s an excellent night prowler, a good fighter, and exhibits a lot of other traditional vampire abilities that he uses for good.

Seductive and tyrannical, Santanico Pandemonium (formerly known as Esmerelda) thinks she’s superior to humans and, in many ways, she is. She can shape-shift, has great strength, and is immortal. She is vulnerable to sunlight and a stake through the heart, though.

Grandpa Munster
653 votes
Grandpa Munster offers sarcasm and wit to the Munster household while doting on his daughter, Lily. He spends most of the time in his lab working on potions and spells, and he can transform into a wolf or a bat. This last part corresponds to Bram Stoker’s Dracula.
Despite efforts to bite people, he never successfully gets to take in any blood, but he does seem determined to get some.

Laszlo Cravensworth
What We Do in the Shadows588 votes
Vampires can turn into bats and that’s exactly what Laszlo Cravensworth does when he’s in a situation he doesn’t like, when he needs to get somewhere quick, or pretty much anytime it feels like the thing to do.
Nominally the head of the household he shares with Nandor, Nadja, Colin, and Guillermo, Lazlo is a highly sexual creature with immortality, great speed, and the ability to hypnotize animals.

In comic books, Deacon Frost does have the same tall, white-haired appearance as Dracula, but in the big screen Blade, he’s much younger. The night club owner (which makes sense because he’s a creature of the night) is extremely ambitious. Being able to regenerate after being cut in half by Blade likely helps Deacon overcome challenging situations.

Physically, Damon Salvatore doesn’t have the same pale appearance as Dracula, but he’s an excellent fighter. This helps in when he fights his brother, Stefan. When “cured” of being a vampire, Damon gives up immortality and the like to be with the woman he loves.

Michael Emerson
The Lost Boys596 votes
When Michael Emerson transforms to become a vampire, he becomes sensitive to light, translucent, and resistant to human food. In The Lost Boys, Michael isn’t a “full” vampire until he undertakes his first kill, which he struggles to delay. He actually rejects everything about being a vampire and can’t wait to go back to begin human.

Once an associate of Vlad II of Wallachia, Jerry Dandridge (formerly Gellert cel Catura) tries to hide among humanity until he’s discovered by his neighbor, Charley Brewster. Strong and unable to get past his lost love, Dandridge arguably tries to balance a normal life as a vampire, but ends up destroyed by sunlight instead.

Bill Compton is of the mind that humans serve a purpose beyond providing blood to feed vampires like him. Compton is immortal, can levitate, and has immense strength.
There’s no doubt Compton is charming, but his feelings about humans makes him a problem for the larger vampire population.

Nosferatu
Nosferatu: A Symphony of Horror, Nosferatu the Vampire, Nosferatu (2024)9 votes
In many ways setting the mold for vampires on the big screen, the original Count Orlock, who was also Nosferatu, was had long fingernails, a hooked nose, and a bald head – not at all an appealing physical appearance like Dracula, in other words. Horrifying and mesmerizing all in one, Nosferatu thrived on chaos and did not hold back from succumbing to his need for blood.
Unlike Dracula, however, Nosferatu was destroyed by sunlight instead of weakened by it and was moodier than his literary counterpart.
